Director (Marla Myers): While everyone at the Multi-Campus Center works hands-on with students, the Director, for the most part, has responsibilities that limit his/her ability to interact with the students to the degree of the other staff members. Marla is also everyone's supervisor, which means she is the glue that keeps us all together. The director is responsible for the budget and financial issues, final decisions on projects and allocations and working with the lay leadership committees for the Multi-Campus Center. She helps also works with the HGP development director on our fundraising. She oversees all aspects of the center, keeping it flowing smoothly. The director supervises other members of the staff, meeting with some in supervision meetings. The director also reports regularly to the staff of Hillel of Greater Philadelphia. This year, Marla had her second child, so she was on maternity leave from February through April.
Associate/Interim Director (Hila Reichman): This year, Hila assumed many of the director's responsibilities when Marla was on maternity leave. She still supervised the Jewish medical and law student groups at Temple. The assistant director is also responsible for organizing our publicity schedule(which all staff helps create) and developing relationships with faculty members as well as other administrative needs. Hila keeps the vision of our center young and hip, and is great for advice on fashion, nightlife, and relationships!
Program Associate (Daniel Alpert): The program director works predominantly with students who are considered empowerment students. He is responsible for developing the student leadership on our campuses by building core groups and providing opportunities for interested Jewish students. Some semesters, the program director also oversees the city-wide group for the Multi-Campus Center. Daniel's main focuses included Israel programs and student board development.
Program Director at Drexel (Audrey Gornish): Audrey is responsible for empowerment programs at Drexel. She can be found at the Drexel Hillel Lounge located at 232 Creese Center Student Union. This year, we had a JCSC at Drexel, a testimony to how much the Jewish community has grown since Audrey started as a Fellow three years ago. Audrey also had a baby (Levi Judson) in April and will be moving to a full time career as a Jewish mother.
JCSC Fellow (That's you!): The JCSC fellow's responsibilities include going out on campus, meeting new Jewish students, and creating dynamic programs with and for them to begin to positively identify with their Jewish identities. This is known as "engagement," or as Richard Joel calls it, "creating Jewish velcro on campus." The JCSC develops one on one relationships with students and serves as a liaison into their Jewish college student community. As one of two Fellows at Multi-Campus Hillel, you will be working at Temple or Drexel, and one or two of our smaller schools, as well as having your hand in the city-wide activities.
Office Manager (Carol): You name it, Carol does it! She takes care of our data base, makes postcards, does the mailings, answers the phones, etc. If you aren't sure where something is in the office, ask Carol. Carol also has a work study student a few days a week, who can also help you with things like sending out mailings, folding pamphlets, and copying flyers. Carol also supervises a work-study student at Temple and our ever-changing custodial staff.
